UC Irvine’s Dr. Sunil Verma will appear March 9 on the nationally syndicated medical talk show “The Doctors” for an episode called “What the heck does that do?”
Verma, an otolaryngologist who specializes in disorders of voice, swallowing and breathing, will answer the question “Why is your uvula more important than you think?” The uvula is the small piece of soft tissue that can be seen dangling over the back of the tongue.
“We used our high definition cameras here at UC Irvine Medical Center to show them where the uvula is and to explain its function,” Verma says.
The program will air in the Los Angeles area at 2 p.m., Friday on KCBS Channel 2. A promotional video for episode can be seen here: http://www.thedoctorstv.com/main/show_page/D4054
